To play Adventure Snack, you don’t need to read a 600 page manual on rules, character creation, or the proper way to hit your friends with a foam rubber sword. Instead, we have this super quick guide on how to play and enjoy your Adventure Snack journey to the very fullest!
STEP 1: SUBSCRIBE!
Adventure Snack quests are delivered to your inbox twice a month. To make sure you never miss a thrilling adventure, take a moment to subscribe:
Tip: You’ll get a welcome email in your inbox. Hover over or right-click the sender name (“Adventure Snack”) and select “Add to Contacts.” That way, no over-aggressive spam filter will send your quests spiraling into the neutralization zone. (Your promotions tab.)
STEP 2: JOIN THE TABLE
Every Adventure Snack game has a “Table Talk” section, where players discuss how their quest went, but also weird movie opinions and sometimes animal facts? Click the red “Leave a comment” button to make yourself heard.
Try it! Join in by answering one (or all) of these prompts.
🧙♂️ Introduce yourself as if you were a character in D&D or a fantasy novel.
🎮 What’s your favorite game story? (Any type of game: video game, board game…)
📊 What do you enjoy doing when you’re supposed to be working?
STEP 3: RAID THE ARCHIVES
While you wait for your first quest to arrive, check out dozens and dozens of Adventure Snack quests published over the years. You can visit the full archives, or start with one of these player favorites:
STEP 4: ACCEPT YOUR FIRST QUEST
On an Adventure Snack quest, YOU are the hero. (I see you flexing.) When you open the email, there will be an introductory paragraph or two, then a series of choices. Click on the choice you’d like and the story will unfold. There might be an additional gameplay element, like rolling a die or prank texting a friend. Yeah, we did that once.
Tip: Excited about the ending you got? Click on the Twitter icon at the bottom of the end screen to share it on your timeline.
That’s it! I told you it wouldn’t take 600 pages. (Maybe if I enlarged the font and expanded the gutters...)
If you have any questions or comments about Adventure Snack, I’m on Twitter @geoffreygolden, or feel free to reply to any quest email and I’ll get your message. Tally ho!
Greetings, fellow travelers! I am Inspector Lagoon Gil, arcane detective. I use my magical powers to help the sorcerer's guild with any investigative needs they may have—everything from wayward spirits to missing doomsday talismans. Although I will admit that, especially as of late, my job usually consists of tracking down mages who "forgot" to pay their dues. I am also open to commissions, so if you need something—or someone—found quickly, just hand me a letter of marque and an initial payment. I accept gold, silver, ale, and most manacurrencies*, including Magecoin and Ichoreum.
*(ie, currency that's built on spell-chain ledgers, and thus only circulates in the astral plane)

As for my favorite game story, that'd have to be EarthBound (1995, SNES). It so masterfully uses the nature, features, and quirks of video games as a medium to tell its story. A story that only a video game could tell. And one that's changed my life and *still* echoes in my mind over 25 years later. It is perfection.
Chrono Trigger's a close-yet-somewhat-distant second (pun intended), for similar reasons.
As for procrastination, for me, it's either pleasure writing or pleasure gaming (as opposed to work-related writing and gaming... but either way, I'm having fun!).
Ah, that was fun! Anyway, HELLO, new subscribers!!! You're in for a treat! This is *easily* one of my Top 3 favorite newsletters, and always love getting the notification when a new issue's published. The snacks are short, sweet, sharp, and sidesplitting-laughter-inducing. Geoffrey's writing is *hilarious*. Enjoy!
Hiiiiii 👋🏾 I’m a regular snacker and this is a cool thing!
Not sure if it’s my favorite, but online shopping and research rabbit holes are where most of my procrastination time ends up! In a way searching for the perfect ergonomic flashlight and not buying it is a fun lil game too?
